The Charente Maritime
a region to discover!

The camping site « Mina’s ponds » is situated Between « land »… : the landscape is green from the inside of this land to the heart of the marsland around Brouage and the Saintonge,
And « sea » … The camping site is situated about 20 km far from the most beautiful beaches in the area.
The region enjoys an oceanic temperate climate : hot in Summer and mild in Winter, so it’s a real pleasure for the tourists. Our region is well-known for its hours of sunshine.

Don’t miss…
Near to the camping site you will stroll along the lanes in Mornac-sur-Seudre, one of the most beautiful village in France. Go and meet local craftmen and discover their products.
Ten kilometers farther let yourself be guided to visit the « house of the bees », go through « the farm of MAGNE » (4 km) or to the village of the fountain (2 km)
Do you want to see « Fort Boyard » ? go for a cruise: half way between the Aix isle and Oléron you will embark from Bourcefranc (20 km far from the camping site). One hour laterr, you will discover the Marais Poitevin (marsland): you can choose to discover the spot by boat, by bicycle or on horse back . Anyway it’s pleasant, strange and very quiet…
The zoo in La Palmyre is situated 30 km far from Cadeuil : children and grown-ups as well will be delighted.
The aquarium in La Rochelle can’t be ignored, it ‘s worth a visit !
The beaches
To feel safe with the children , you will prefer going to Chatellaillon (far from 40 km), Meschers-sur-Gironde (25 km) or Saint-Palais-sur-mer : (20 km). These beaches are watched during the high season and they have got good installations. The more athletic people will choose the beaches in Oléron which are situated face to the wind !
For the nature lovers: put your towel on the long beach between La Tremblade/Ronce-les-bains and La Palmyre : it’s the « wild coast » in the sand dunes and the pine forest.
City lovers will certainly prefer going to Royan (17 km) or La Rochelle (50 km)

The isles
You can’t stay in the Charente Maritime without visiting at least one of the four islands in the area.
The island of Oléron is said to be « the brightest »: you can go for a walk, ramble in the nature, cycle, or go sailing…
Don’t hesitate to discover our great inheritance : The Citadel in Château d’Oléron, many fortifications, lighthouses, and a lot of roman churches…
The Island of Ré famous for its quietness offers different views: sandy beaches, forests, yachting harbours, lighthouses, salterns…
Go for a ride by bicycle and discover «the Madam Isle and the island of Aix » which are really remarkable for their quietness. You can also visit these isles either on foot or on a barouche. You will not regret… But be careful ! You can cross there only at low tide !

The Marennes-Oléron basin has got a lot of treasures coming from the sea : The oysters from Marennes-Oléron are very famous and worldwide known.
